Facilities Support
A church isn’t a building — a church is made up of people. And our Facility Support Teams include a host of selfless volunteers who help with everything from parking cars to cooking meals, from serving coffee to security, from mowing lawns to repairing buildings. In these areas, there is always a need and place to get involved.
For more information on how to get involved in any of the Facilities Support ministries, please contact Rick Leary at rick.leary@oakhills.org. We’d love to have you on the team!
Green Team
Each Saturday morning a team of faithful volunteers arrive to mow and edge the lawns. Currently, there are four teams who each serve one Saturday a month. They enjoy some great fellowship and good exercise as they workout around the church.
Adopt a Planter Team
Many of the planting areas are maintained by church families who come once every couple of months to pull weeds, rake leaves, spread bark or to plant some new annuals in their planter area.
Building Maintenance and Construction
Our facility bears the mark of many volunteers who have helped with everything from concrete to framing, painting to electrical, roofing to landscaping. Each month, teams of volunteers come and help with a variety of projects from maintenance to new construction depending on the skills available. We are currently working with the new construction of classrooms on the second floor along with overall maintenance of the facility. Saturday and other workdays are great places to meet new friends and enjoy some good fellowship.
Stack and Clean
Every week our “Stack Packers” and “Dust Buster” teams help with stacking chairs and cleaning the facility. This helps to keep down our custodial hours and frees our custodians to do other helpful tasks. Key times for involvement are on Wednesday and Saturday nights although there are many other possibilities.
