So what do you really do at the church? I maintain the boiler room and work on various small and mid-size repair projects to keep the joint humming along. [Editor’s note: He’s kidding about this of course — the boiler room rarely hums along properly.]

Education: Goodland Elementary School; McKinley Junior High School (the Vikings); Jerome Increase (a.k.a. JI) Case High School (the Eagles); University of Wisconsin-Madison (the Badgers); Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (the Saints).

I grew up in: Racine, Wisconsin – Headquarters of Johnsons Wax and their fine line of mosquito repellents (off, etc)

Family info: Julie and I have been married for a long time. We have three kids: Sam, Abigail and Izzie.

Do you have a weird habit? I do. It is tye dye instead of the typical white one I usually wear.

Favorite book: The Divine ConspiracyLife TogetherAmusing Ourselves To Death, The End of Evangelicalism, and Subversive Meals.

Favorite movie: Anything with John Wayne or Jimmy Stewart.

Favorite saying: “When the dam breaks the beavers will drown.”

Favorite thing to do: Hang out as a family in our backyard. Ride a bike around the lake.

Favorite team: Green Bay Packers.

Favorite color: Orange.

What is your dream place in the world? Barstow, California.

You’re stuck on a deserted island and boy you’re glad you packed your: Dean Martin playlist from my iphone.

Do you have any fears, irrational or otherwise? The return merchandise area of any Home Depot, Lowes or auto related store.

15 minutes of fame: When I was a kid I just missed getting picked as a contestant on Bozo’s circus by the tips and the tips only of the magic arrows. Half of me was visible on the television screen on WGN channel 9 our of Chicago. Bozo’s circus is sponsored by Empire Carpets – 588-2300 Empire!

Most notorious around the office for: Secretly washing everyone’s coffee cup and dirty dishes.

Something we’d be surprised to learn about you: I have a condition known as ASMR. Please look it up. Also, my nickname has been Razor Clam since I was 19.

Adjective co-workers would use to describe you: Quiet and sweet.

Became a Christian how? Had a profound encounter with God one night when I was 19 years old.

Am particularly fond of/moved by/drawn to this verse: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17

Seriously though… Having had a chance to hear the stories of many pastors … Oak Hills is a very unique place filled with profoundly special people.
