One can define joy as “a pervasive and constant sense of well-being.” In this sense, learning to live in the Kingdom of God is about choosing the path that leads to a pervasive and constant sense of well-being, no matter our circumstances. Unfortunately, in response to the pain and brokenness of this world, many people choose complaining and scoffing. But lamenting, or grieving, is the Biblical response to a broken world. And lament is often the path we need to take to experience true joy.
The following is an exercise one can use to learn how to lament, using the Psalms as an example and guide. Feel free to download this and share with others.
